WBBP Radio Station
Where Bible Believers Praise God All Day
The Message of Our Ministry is in the Music
Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson was given a vision early in his ministry for a 24-hour, authentic gospel-formatted radio station. It was impressed upon him that the evangelistic message and music were lost in commercial marketing and secular programming among many gospel-labeled stations. This belief was confirmed as his ministry grew and took him across the country to preach the Word of God. In 1989, Bishop Patterson’s non-profit ministry, Bountiful Blessings Inc., filed a FCC broadcast application for1480 AM radio band in Memphis, TN. Where Bible Believers Praise God all Day went live on the air in 1991.
In 1999, WBBP became an internet streaming radio station. The station expanded its audience reach and gained widespread recognition. From 2004 to 2006, WBBP was ranked by radio locator as the second most listened to internet radio station among 507 gospel stations surveyed. WBBP has received multiple Stellar Award nominations for Radio Station of the Year. The station became a Nielsen Broadcast Data System reporting entity for gospel music charts like Billboard, media guide and radio & records.
WBBP is a purpose-driven, ministry-focused and global-minded broadcast station dedicated to the will and service of God. During the hurricane Katrina disaster, WBBP donated thousands of dollars in airtime for FEMA updates. The WBBP staff volunteered numerous man-hours to help feed displaced Gulf Coast residents seeking refuge in Memphis. The station and its staff continue to exhibit this unselfish commitment to community evangelism through service to those in need.
